Stockmen’s Foundation hosts successful 2023 Stockmen’s Ball
The North Dakota Stockmen’s Foundation (NDSF) brought nearly 400 people from across the region together for a record-setting 2023 Stockmen’s Ball in Bismarck last month. This event supports beef industry scholarship, leadership, research, promotion, disaster relief and building projects via a night of western elegance.
“We are grateful to all those who supported the Foundation during this year’s Stockmen’s Ball,” said Jeff Schafer, NDSF president and New Rockford-area cow-calf producer and feeder. “The support from sponsors, donors, auction bidders and buyers and all those who attended allows us to continue the Foundation’s work to fortify the beef industry in North Dakota for this generation and those to come.”
Radio personality and Rhame-area rancher Scott Bachmeier served as the emcee. He led a program celebrating the Foundation’s achievements over the past two years, including the dispersement of 20 collegiate scholarships and more than a quarter-million dollars in direct aid to cattle producers hit by the catastrophic Blizzard Haley in April 2022, as well as the completion of the new headquarters building.
Cattle rancher and auctioneer Scott Weishaar of Sentinel Butte called a lively fundraiser auction. Items ranged from one-of-a-kind western furniture to an African safari.
The Stockmen’s Ball also included a silent auction, which featured 122 unique pieces this year.
A fun-filled stick horse race and game of heads and tails also generated funds for the NDSF’s charitable mission.
After a prime rib supper, Tris Munsick and the Innocents took the stage and kept the dance floor full into the night.
“The Ball was a great opportunity to socialize with fellow producers and industry leaders,” Schafer said. “Thank you to everyone who supported the event and thereby made a major investment in the future of North Dakota’s cattle industry.”
