The Environmental Services Program aids livestock producers in complying with state and federal environmental regulations pertaining to animal feeding operations through technical assistance and cost-share support. A component of the Environmental Services Program is the Stewardship Support Program, which provides cost-share solutions for producers with compliance requirement needs and provides 60 percent cost-share assistance. These program funds apply to the components of the operation that support environmental improvements. Contact Environmental Services Director Scott Ressler at (701) 223-2522 or sressler@ndstockmen.org to schedule a confidential, obligation-free assessment. Since its inception, the program has conducted more than 734 assessments and delivered nearly $9 million in cost share to help producers implement practices that protect natural resources and enhance livestock operations.
The Goal: To make a positive contribution to the environment and, at the same time, increase the productivity and profitability of cattle operations.
The Program: The Environmental Services Program is a voluntary, obligation-free program available to all North Dakota beef producers.
The Process: Request an assessment. You are under no obligation to make any suggested changes. The Environmental Services Director will schedule a meeting to visit with the producer and evaluate the site. The director may recommend no changes, only management practice alterations or solutions to improve the environmental soundness of the operation. The director aids in filing the appropriate paperwork, seeking cost-share assistance and identifying qualified resource people.
